CHAPTER 3

"Meri shanti bhang karti hai

Day night ye call karti hai..

Kabhi gaddi mein le jao

Kabhi shopping karao

Har roz ye tang karti hai

Meri wali ding dang ding dang

Ding dang ding dang ding dang karti hai

Ye meri wali ding dang ding dang

Ding dang ding dang ding dang karti hai

Ye meri wali ding dang ding dang

Ding dang ding dang ding dang karti hai!!"

At the Malhotra house,

a delicate veil of agarbatti smoke gently wafted through the pure air of the home, carrying whispers of devotion. In the corner temple of the hall, Parvati Ji performed the aarti with serene grace. It was Monday, and the worship of Shiv Ji bloomed with such heartfelt bhakti that it felt like nectar for the soul.

Her soft, melodic voice wove through the chant, drawing Vikram Ji in from the garden like a moth to a flame. A tender smile lit his face as he quietly stepped behind her, folding his hands in reverence.Just as her pallu threatened to slip from her head, Vikram Ji reached out with gentle care, adjusting it back into place.

Parvati Ji glanced at him with sparkling eyes and a shy smile. Vikram Ji mirrored her warmth, their shared gaze a silent symphony of affection.Nearby, a beautiful girl of about sixteen sat before the mirror, deftly weaving her lustrous hair into perfect twin braids. Sakshi.

Her eyes held a rare tranquility—neither shadowed by anger nor dimmed by sorrow, but radiant with quiet poise. With a swift motion, she rose, stuffing her books and notebooks into her bag.

She flung open the wardrobe, slipped on her crisp school jacket, and returned to the mirror for one final check. "Oh no! Where's my tie? If I don't wear it, PT teacher will scold me into pakoras!" she muttered to herself with a playful huff, scanning the room in mock panic.

She glanced here and there, her eyes landing on the tie peeking from the corner of her bed.

With a dramatic slap to her forehead, she snatched it up swiftly, fumbling it into a hasty knot around her neck.Bag slung over her shoulder, Sakshi dashed downstairs, her braids bouncing like playful ribbons.A boy of nearly seventeen or eighteen stood ready for school, exuding quiet poise.

His hair gleamed neatly combed, tie perfectly knotted, collar crisp against his fresh shirt and jacket. Hazel-brown eyes sparkled with gentle depth, his skin a perfect warm glow—neither too fair nor too dark.He was Krish. His school bag hung low on his right shoulder.

Gaze fixed forward on his parents, he offered a soft smile, then bowed his head reverently toward the mandir.Parvati Ji turned, her face blooming with a mother's pride.

She approached with a tender smile, dipping her fingers into the vermilion tika. Gently, she pressed it between his brows. Krish bowed his head lightly, eyes fluttering shut in quiet acceptance of her blessing.

Aaj subah subah aarti, Maa?" Krish asked softly, his voice laced with gentle curiosity.Parvati Ji smiled warmly. "Haan, aaj Somvar hai na, aur aaj mera vrat bhi hai."Krish sighed softly, a flicker of concern in his hazel eyes.

Vikram Ji approached from behind, handing him a plate of prasad, which Krish accepted with a nod. "Chinta mat karo, main hoon. Apni praan priye ka dhyan rakhne ke liye..." he teased, his words drawing a blush to Parvati Ji's cheeks.Krish grinned softly. "Arre Papa, aap ho toh fir kidhar ki chinta..."Parvati Ji glided toward the dining area, her pallu swaying gracefully.

"Chaliye aaiye dono, nashta karne baithiye... Rupa laati hi hogi," she said softly. Both settled at the table, Vikram Ji unfolding his newspaper with a puzzled frown. "Princess kahan hai Krish? Aaj uski chhutti hai kya?" he asked.

Just then, Sakshi bounded downstairs, her wide smile lighting up the room like morning sun. She rushed straight to Vikram Ji, enveloping him in a tight hug. "GOOD MORNING PAPAAA!"Vikram Ji chuckled deeply, pressing a kiss to her forehead.

"Good morning, mera bachcha."Grinning ear to ear, she darted to Parvati Ji, squeezing her in a fierce hug and planting kisses on her cheeks.

"Good morning Mummyyy!"Parvati Ji laughed softly, returning the cheek kisses. "Good morning betu, chal baith ja nashta karne."

Sakshi nodded eagerly and plopped down beside Krish, who flashed her a teasing smile. She shot him a confused look.

"Kya?!"Krish shook his head mischievously. "Tu aaj nahayi toh hai na?" he teased.Sakshi's eyes widened in mock outrage. "What do you mean by 'nahayi toh hai na'? Main aapki tarah nahi hoon thik hai na... roz nahati hoon main!"Krish bit back a laugh. "Hmm, tabhi aaj tadka se kam nahi lag rahi," he mumbled, just loud enough for her to hear.Sakshi gasped and slapped his arm, making him yelp. "Sunna maine!!!"He rubbed his arm, glaring playfully.

"Toh acha hai na, tu sun sake isliye toh bola!"Vikram Ji sighed, folding his newspaper with authority. "Bas karo dono. Chupchap nashta karo aur school jao," he ordered sternly, silencing them as they shot each other one last glare.

Nashta wrapped up amid stolen glances and muffled giggles.

Soon, the siblings grabbed their bags and headed out to the driveway, where Krish's sleek bike waited like a faithful steed under the morning sun.Sakshi hopped on behind him, her arms wrapping loosely around his waist for balance.

"Dheere chalna, Krish! Late ho jayenge toh principal daantega," she warned, though excitement bubbled in her voice.Krish revved the engine with a grin, glancing back. "Arre tension mat le, princess. Tera hero pilot banega aaj." He teased, kicking off smoothly.

The bike purred to life, weaving through the quiet neighborhood streets. Wind whipped Sakshi's braids, carrying the scent of fresh dew and blooming jasmine.

She leaned closer against Krish's back, her chin nearly resting on his shoulder, heart racing with the familiar thrill. Krish stole a sideways peek in the mirror, his hazel eyes softening at her carefree smile.

As they zipped toward school, the world blurred into a canvas of golden light—two siblings, bound by banter and unbreakable ties, racing into the day.
